Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia reginae) is a much loved flowering plant used as a cut flower for its striking orange and purple beak-like blooms that give it its common name. It adds a touch of the tropics, yet will also cope with light forsts.
It's tough, coping with full sun, slat laden winds and even drought once established. It's useful as a container plant and thrives on not a lot, but you will need sunshine for those flowers.
