Golden Cane Palm (Dypsis lutescens) 400mm
Botanical name: Dypsis lutescens
Common name: Golden Cane Palm
Golden Cane Palms are prized for their golden stems and bright green fronds. They will grow happily in any frost-free position, and when planted outdoors can grow to 6m. One of the charming characteristics of this palm is its suckering habit, which means that as it grows taller it also gets thicker and bushier. Care instructions:
Light: Inside a bright, well-lit position is best. Outdoors they will grow in part shade.
Watering: make sure you let it drain freely, and never have water sitting in the saucer. It likes to be reasonably moist over the warm months, but as the weather cools, ease off the water and let it dry out slightly between drinks.
Feeding: use liquid fertiliser every few weeks, as per instructions on the pack.
